$20 student transit pass on SacRT!

Sacramento Regional Transit, SacRT, is offering $20 per month student passes for all K-12 students in San Juan USD. This is a pilot program, through June of this year, but it is hoped it will become permanent. Student passes were formerly $55 per month.

Three options for the pass:

  1. Purchase month or half-month pass from San Juan Central. Cash only. Place the pass sticker on either your regular student ID or SacRT student ID. McKinney-Vento students may receive free pass stickers, with no change in criteria from before.
  2. Obtain a Connect Card from any of the sources listed on the student pass web page (http://bit.ly/RTstudentpass) and add a student pass. Credit card online or cash payment at a vendor. You may obtain a SacRT student ID version of the Connect Card if you wish, but it is not required. Connect Card works on all the transit agencies in the region, not just SacRT.
  3. Download the ZipPass mobile app (http://bit.ly/RTzippass) and add a student pass. Credit card required.

Whether or not students use transit to get to and from school, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn about transit, get around independently, and reduce environmental impact. Unfortunately some parts of San Juan Unified are not served by transit, or only served by infrequent service, but the way to get better service is to use the system and ask for better service. Every student should have a transit pass!
